Vertical greening as a sculptural spatial atraction
In the 'Carolus Therme', the design of the planted columns creates an architectural solution that brings nature, form and space together in a striking way. The vertical structure of the greened elements not only accentuates the height of the spatial volume, but also creates a visual connection between the different levels.
The circular geometry of the plant columns echoes the organic lines of the interior – from the sweeping wall contours and balustrades to the supporting columns. The result is a harmonious interplay between architecture and nature that unfolds across all levels of the building.
A defining design feature is the sculptural play of direction: the columns rise from the floor like stalagmites and are reflected in the water. This dynamic arrangement creates a playful atmosphere in the space and transforms the planting into a space‑defining work of art.
