Plant Kiosk & Forest Circle – Modular Systems for a Green Workplace

The greening concept at Roche in Wyhlen fuses functional architecture with a dense, programmatic planting strategy, structured around two key elements: the Plant Kiosk and the Forest Circle.

The Plant Kiosk is a modular, user-driven hydroponic system composed of stackable ceramic vessels in varying shapes and colours. More than 300 pots are individually planted, while additional modules function as vases, bowls or storage. A custom shelf with integrated LED lighting, coat rail and locker units consolidates the system into a multifunctional furniture piece that organises space, introduces greenery at eye level and anchors daily work routines. Employees can freely choose items from the shelfs; enpowering them to shape their working space.

The Forest Circle creates intimate green retreats within the office: circular seating islands enveloped by lush planting that support relaxation, informal exchange and focused work.

A continuous vertical greening concept links all floors—from generously planted office levels to more sculptural landscapes on the ground and basement levels. Planting is conceived as an architectural layer and a core component of a sustainable, identity-forming work environment, rather than an applied add-on.

The roof landscape forms the building’s inner courtyard on the first floor and is conceived as an interpretation of a gorge forest. At ground level, a carpet of mosses and ferns creates a cool, shaded understorey, while the facades are wrapped in a…
